On August 3, the first Leon Medical Centers on 27th Avenue and SW 1st Street in Miami was inaugurated.

On May 27, 1999, the first Leon Hospital Service Center was opened in Mercy Hospital to better serve patients by providing them with continued personal attention and service.

A third Leon Hospital Service Center opened at Kendall Regional Medical Center by year end to guide and assist patients during their hospital visits.

Comprehensive dental care services were added across centers to provide expert, on-site oral health treatments.

In January 2012, Leon Medical Centers opened the Leon Healthy Living Centers to help patients increase their physical activity and maintain their functional independence.

The Leon Refill Center launched to make prescription management effortless. Powered by advanced automation, we process medications with speed and pinpoint accuracy. We ensure our patients never miss a vital dose, even during an emergency.

MyLeon MediConnect was introduced as a secure online portal for patients to easily manage health records, communicate with doctors, and request appointments.

Leon Home Medical, a new department that provides patients with a wide variety of home medical equipment to help them improve their quality of life and daily activities, was established.

The Women's Health Institute opened to deliver compassionate care tailored to the unique needs of women. Specialized services include 2D and 3D screening and diagnostic mammography, bone density scans (DEXA), breast ultrasounds, and dedicated breast MRIs. The facility also features an exclusive same day biopsy program that provides results within 72 hours.

Leon at Home was created to bring high quality, professional home health services and equipment directly into patients' living rooms.

MRI services launched to offer state of the art diagnostic imaging directly within our facilities. Featuring a spacious wide bore design, feet-first imaging, and a full-body metal detector for maximum safety, this suite delivers superior diagnostic quality wrapped in absolute comfort.

Physicians on Call 24/7/365 begins offering patients direct access to expert medical advice around the clock every day of the year.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) designated the Women's Health Institute as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The ACR designation assures patients that the institute provides the highest imaging quality and safety as well as meeting all requirements for equipment, medical personnel, and quality assurance.

The Oncology Center opened to deliver world-class cancer care within a profoundly supportive environment. This state-of-the-art facility features precision radiation therapy, targeted chemotherapy protocols, and dedicated infusion suites. We pair elite oncologists with personal care navigators to ensure patients and their families receive seamless, compassionate guidance through every phase of treatment.

Leon Health, launched in 2022 by Benjamín León, Jr., a visionary and innovator in the health care field, is a Medicare Advantage plan that works exclusively with Leon Medical Centers in Miami-Dade County to provide Medicare, Medicare and Medicaid or Medicare for eligible seniors with disabilities with comprehensive care and the benefits needed in order to improve their overall health and well-being.

The Dialysis Center, led by Leon and run by KidneySPA, opened to elevate the standard of vital kidney care. Designed for absolute patient comfort, the facility features advanced hemodialysis technology, premium reclining seating, and individualized entertainment systems. A dedicated team of expert nephrologists and specialized renal dietitians monitors every detail, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care during every single visit.

Flagler Urgent Care extends its operating hours to give patients immediate access to expert medical attention when they need it most. We treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries quickly, helping patients bypass the long wait times of a traditional emergency room. Equipped with full on-site diagnostics and a dedicated medical staff, fast and effective relief is always within reach. (Other centers (Kendall, West Hialeah and Miami) offer EXTENDED HOURS, Monday - Sunday 8AM-8PM.)

Leon Surgery Center at Dadeland opened. This facility, nearly 20,000 square feet and located in the heart of Dadeland, features 5 operating rooms, 19 preoperative stations, and 9 postoperative stations, offering advanced surgical capabilities in multiple specialties: including ophthalmology, urology, orthopedics, and podiatry, with other specialty procedures soon to come.
